What is Clenil Inhaler?

Clenil Modulite (also referred to as a Brown Inhaler in our FAQ’s) is a preventer inhaler, this means when you buy Brown Inhalers they will prevent any further attacks and reduce symptoms. How do you take Clenil Inhaler?

Before using your Clenil inhaler, it is important to breathe as slowly as possible. The steps below inform you on how to correctly use a Brown Inhaler:

Stand or sit upright
Remove the Clenil inhaler mouthpiece cover, gently squeezing the sides with your thumb and forefinger to pull apart
Shake the inhaler four/five times
Hold the Clenil Modulite inhaler upright, with the thumb on the base below the mouthpiece
Breathe out as far as comfortable
Place the mouthpiece in your mouth, between your teeth and close your lips around it
Breathe in through your mouth and then press down on the top of the canister (whilst still breathing in steadily and deeply
Hold your breath and remove the inhaler from your mouth

If you need to take another puff, wait about a minute and a half, and always replace the mouthpiece cover following use.

Young users may need help to operate the inhaler.
Weak handed users may find it easier to hold the inhaler with both hands.

How do you clean a Clenil Inhaler?

Whenever you buy Brown Inhalers online or from your local GP, you should clean them once a week. When cleaning, do not remove the canister can from the actuator and do not use water or other liquids to clean your inhaler.

To clean your inhaler:

1. Remove the protective cap from the mouthpiece by pulling it away from your inhaler.

When should I replace my inhaler?

When the indicator shows 20 doses left, you should request a new inhaler from your doctor. This will ensure you have a replacement in good time. When the 0 appears centrally in the window the medicine has run out and you should discard the inhaler.

Your inhaler may feel like there are still some contents remaining but any remaining puffs may not contain enough medicine and should not be used.

What should I do if I take more Clenil Modulite than recommended?

Tell your doctor as soon as possible.

Your doctor may want to check the cortisol levels in your blood and therefore, may need to take a blood sample (cortisol is a steroid hormone that occurs naturally in the body).

What does the Clenil Modulite inhaler contain?

The active substance of your inhaler is beclometasone dipropionate. Each puff contains 50, 100, 200 or 250 micrograms of beclometasone dipropionate.

The other ingredients are glycerol, ethanol and the CFC-free propellant norflurane (HFA-134a).

To help protect the environment, the inhaler contains the CFC-free propellant HFA-134a, which replaces completely the chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) propellants and appears to have a less damaging effect on the ozone layer. The only differences you might notice from your previous CFC-containing inhaler are the taste and the feel of the spray in your mouth.
